Tips for transforming your bedroom on a BUDGET!

I’m sure many of us have entertained the thought of redecorating our bedrooms at least once during lockdown. I know I have, in fact I spoke a little bit about how I transformed my bedroom whilst in quarantine here. Your bedroom is your sanctuary, it’s the one place that you spend most of your time regenerating and resting – especially during quarantine! So let’s transform!

I think what puts people off redecorating sometimes is ££. But, it doesn’t have to be an expensive ordeal! In this blog post I am going to share with you some of the inexpensive ways that I manage to transform my room.

Let’s talk about your windows.

Windows are one of the most important spaces in your bedroom – especially if you have a smaller one. The light that comes through them bounces off our walls, which imperatively makes the room look bigger than it actually is.

For this reason, it was really important for me to ditch the dark brown, draping curtains that I had originally, and switch them out for light blinds.

Blinds are fantastic because they not only allow light through even when they are drawn down, but they also allow you to decorate your windowsills. This opens up the room, making it look larger than it actually is! Blinds also help to make your room look less cluttered!

You could pick up pattered blinds if that is what you wanted, but I just wanted some simple light ones that would help to brighten up and transofrm the room! I purchased mine from IKEA for £25.00.

From the windows…to the walls!

Next, let’s talk about the biggest thing that you can do to your room to change its energies and vibes: wallpaper! Painting walls can be so expensive. More importantly, it is such an arduous job, and let’s be honest – nobody has the time. The next best thing is to invest in some wallpaper and call it a day. I picked mine up from Amazon, once again, for just £12.25…I know – so damn cheap!

It is so gorgeous and instantly changed the look and feel of my room. If you wanted a genuine alternative for paint, you could buy solid coloured wallpaper. But, I wanted to create a focus wall featuring patterns. I love how stylish and sophisticated this paper is. I have a grey and white colour scheme going on, and this just ties it all together!

Where all the magic happens…

Bedding is the easiest way to transform the look of your room, and nothing beats the feeling of fresh sheets, right? I love switching out my bed sets often. Playing with different textures and patterns is so fun!

My current bedding is a mixture from B&M, Primark and H&M!

Headboards are another aesthetic and practical feature that will transform your room easily. They provide back support, keep our pillows from falling off the bed whilst simultaneously adding a personal touch to the bedroom.

Typically, headboards can be quite expensive, but I found this really cheap one from which I fell in love with instantly.

This is a padded headboard with a crushed velvet material which makes it look so much more expensive than it really is. The ‘diamonds’ add an extra luxe feel which reflects on to the whole room! It was only £29.99 from Amazon and you can purchase it in either black, silver, or the grey colour which I have.

You would never really put on an outfit and not consider accessories, so why is it any different for your bedroom? That’s right, let’s talk decor.

Succulents (if you are good at keeping things alive) and artificial succulents (if you aren’t) are the way to go! Popping little pots around your room will switch up the whole vibe. Personally, when it comes to plants – it has to be IKEA for me. I picked up these three recently and hung them on my shelves!

Finding the matching links for these plants was difficult…I managed to find the hanging plant and the orchid plant here and here! I think it is always best to go in store when looking for succulents because you get to see them up to scale!

Like the window tip I mentioned above, lighting is so important in helping to transform your room!

Investing in a metal lamp shade is great for reflecting light and making the room look so much brighter. In turn, this makes your room look larger!

But, your main light source should not be the only light source in your room. I also keep fairy lights and Star Gazers scattered around my room. These are the VIBE.

This is my stargazer! Isn’t it so pretty?!

Nothing beats putting a Summer Walker album on, switching on the Star Gazer, and propping up with a good book or a cup of tea…my star gazer is from Amazon. I picked it up for £36.99! You can grab it here.

These are all of my tips to help you to transform your bedroom on a budget! These tips are all relatively easy and quick to do, but they make a world of a difference!

If you end up redecorating, please do share your ideas with me because I am always looking for ways to switch up my own bedroom!

I totally agree with you about making our bedroom a bit more livable and workable especially in times like what we have now. 3. I’ve been redecorating my room since the start of lockdown – aka painted one wall and have put off painting all the others. I need new curtains too, but my favourite new thing is buying prints to put on the walls! It helps to add life into blank spaces and just looks cute x

  4. Hey Rouba, thanks for sharing these decor ideas. I like to dry flowers and make vase arrangements with them! At one point, my desk was filled with arrangements there was no space left for me to do anything else but arrange flowers! Like you, I used to keep plants too.
